The Origin Story

“It all started with a sweaty, blood-soaked shift at 2am…”

Back in 2006, I was working nights as an ED Trauma Tech/Paramedic. I was soaked, uncomfortable, and stuck in contaminated scrubs—waiting for central supply to bring me a clean pair, while new patients kept pouring in. Out of frustration, I grabbed a high-performance athletic shirt from my gym bag—and instantly felt the difference.

That moment sparked an idea:
Why can’t scrubs feel and perform like this?

Fast forward to 2014, we began collaborating with designers from leading outdoor and athletic brands and partnered with researchers from NC State University's College of Textiles and Engineering to develop our own performance knit fabrics. We officially launched from a garage in Los Angeles in 2017—documenting every step of the startup journey on Instagram.

We quickly sold out of our first run of scrubs and were met by an incredible community of healthcare professionals who were hungry for gear that could keep up. We found our fam.

As of 2025, we’ve grown to a team of over 30 and have outfitted tens of thousands of customers across the U.S. and around the world.

FITScrubs® was born—performance-driven medical apparel built to work as hard as you do. Today, we ship globally from our headquarters in Albuquerque, NM, fueling a movement where science meets style, and performance meets purpose.
